Biography

Reade Griffith is Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Tetragon, TFG Asset Management and Westbourne River Partners.

Early Career

After graduating from Harvard College with a degree in Economics, Reade began his career in the United States Marine Corp, raising to the rank of captain and serving in the 1991 Gulf War. Following his military service, Reade went to Harvard Law School. During his time at law school, Reade undertook an internship on the arbitrage desk at Goldman Sachs in New York, where he was first exposed to alternative investing.

After graduating Reade became an Analyst at Baker Nye Investments, investing in global merger arbitrage and special situations. He later joined Citadel Investment Group and became the founder and CEO of their European office, becoming responsible for the global event-driven arbitrage team in Tokyo, London and Chicago.

Tetragon

In 2005 Reade co-founded Tetragon Financial Group, a Guernsey close ended fund. Originally the fund focused on investment in CLO equity before diversifying to invest in a broad spectrum of alternative assets. Reade serves as the fund’s Chief Investment Officer and is a member of its board of directors. In 2012, alongside his business partner, Paddy Dear, Reade co-founded TFG Asset Management, a platform for entrepreneurial alternative asset managers looking to launch and scale their businesses.

Reade is Chief Investment Officer of TFG Asset Management, as well as its European event-driven equities business, Westbourne River Partners. A hedge fund strategy that Reade launched in 2009.

Outside of work

Reade continues to have a strong interest in defence and military service, he is an active a member of the Royal United Services Institute Advisory Board, the world’s oldest and the UK’s leading defence and security think tank.

Reade is also passionate about fly fishing, wildlife conservation and the use of sustainable and regenerative farming methods to encourage biodiversity. He is a member of the Presidents’ Club for both the Atlantic Salmon Trust and the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Reade is based in London with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three daughters. Reade and Elizabeth are active philanthropists. Together they look to create educational and athletic opportunities for young people, having both been varsity sport participants during their time as Harvard undergraduates.

Together they have endowed a fund to support Harvard’s efforts to promote
inclusion and broaden access to organized sports and recreational activity.
Their education-focused philanthropy also includes bursary funding at 
St Paul’s Girls’ School in London.
